About Us

Welcome to Young Engineers Over the Mountain! We ignite innovation across generations.

I'm Nat Alkire, Owner/Licensee, engineer (EE/MBA, 13+ yrs), and local parent. I founded Young Engineers OTM to bring exceptional, fun STEM learning to our community, offering programs that truly inspire.

We use the internationally acclaimed Young Engineers curriculum, recognized by Harvard's Grad School of Education. Through hands-on building with specialized bricks, robotics (like Algobrix®), and innovative kits, we make engineering, mechanics, and coding exciting and accessible.

Our Programs:

Kids & Teens:

LEGO®: Big Builders (4-6), Bricks Challenge (6-10), Galileo Technic (10-12+).

Tech: AlgoPlay (coding/mechanics, 6-10), RoboToys (robotics/coding, 9-12).

Inclusive: Build Up (Grades 2-5) supports children on the autism spectrum & with diverse needs.

Adults: PRO Program for dynamic corporate team-building (120 min).

Seniors: Golden Age engages seniors (assisted/independent living, memory care) with STEM activities for cognitive health.

Birthdays: Unforgettable STEM parties (Ages 6-10) with 2 hours of building fun.

Our Mission: Build confidence, critical thinking, and essential skills in learners of all ages/abilities through quality STEM experiences.

Serving: Hoover, Vestavia Hills, Homewood, Mountain Brook, Indian Springs, Meadowbrook, Highland Lakes, Eagle Point, Shoal Creek, & surrounding Birmingham areas.
