Construction Estimating Manager
The Estimating Manager will prepare complex cost estimates, track value creation items, and develop and manage scopes of work for all trades. This includes creating responsibility matrices, coordinating pricing and bid solicitation, and utilizing knowledge of project schedules and logistics in estimates. The role also involves assisting with system analysis of building components and MEP systems, coordinating bid day summaries, and participating in project procurement presentations. The Estimating Manager will work closely with operations and field staff to identify more economical construction methods during the preconstruction process and will provide professional deliverables at the completion of each major estimate. Additionally, the Estimating Manager will have the opportunity to improve project profitability by applying an understanding of insurance structures, fees, and rates, while also providing training and mentorship to others.
Responsibilities
- Prepare cost estimates for competitive bids and negotiated proposals.
- Perform quantity surveys of materials shown on project plans.
- Read and outline project specifications.
- Maintain an audit trail of the quantity survey from estimate to estimate.
- Support vendor/subcontractor pricing, bid solicitation, and coordination.
- Distribute plans and specifications to vendors/subcontractors.
- Build collaborative relationships with project team members, subcontractors, vendors, and clients.
- Gain self-performing estimating experience and field operational exposure through onsite project support.
- Prepare complex cost estimates for competitive bids and negotiated proposals.
- Prepare material and other cost(s) summary for quotes from vendors.
- Track value creation items from development through inclusion and document in project documentation.
- Develop and manage scopes of work for all trades, including responsibility matrix and pricing coordination.
- Utilize knowledge of project schedule and logistics in project estimates.
- Assist with system analysis of building components and MEP systems.
- Coordinate bid day summaries and participate in project procurement presentations.

- Improve project profitability opportunities by applying understanding of insurance structures, fees, and rates.
- Ability to read blueprints, construction plans
- Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or related field (Preferred).
- 3+ years estimating experience.
- Preference for a total of 5+ years construction experience.
- Proficiency in MS Office with strong Excel skills (Intermediate).
- Ability to read and understand drawings and specifications (Intermediate).
- Proficiency in construction estimating software (Intermediate).
- Knowledge of the means and methods of construction management (Intermediate).
- Knowledge of field operations through project support.
- Ability to prepare quantity surveys.
- Knowledge of Lean process and philosophy.
- Ability to develop General Requirement estimates.
- Restaurant industry a plus
- Experience with tenant buildouts, Design build Process,
- Experience with Bluebeam and Procore
- Experience with Procore Take-off software
- Ability to build relationships and collaborate within a team, internally, externally, and with stakeholders.
