Participation Coordinator
Riverchase United Methodist Church is searching for a Participation Coordinator. This important
position coordinates activities that support worship and promotes congregant involvement in
church ministries. You will work closely with church leaders to ensure consistency, communication,
and organization of appropriate programs and volunteer teams. This is an hourly, part-time position
that reports to the associate pastor.

Essential Skills and Responsibilities:
• Coordinate volunteer recruitment and training.
• Organize support services for Sunday morning worship. Secure volunteers including ushers,
greeters, Welcome desk volunteers, bus drivers, communion servers, communion bread
bakers, communion set-up, acolytes, and crucifers. Coordinate donuts and coffee in Welcome
Center. Be present Sunday mornings to ensure that these tasks are manned and handled
efficiently.
• Attend worship planning meetings and obtain required information to effectively staff,
organize, and inform Sunday morning support teams.
• Ensure all guests and visitors are properly welcomed.
• Organize weekly Joy Ministry. Verify recipients, volunteer cooks, and volunteer delivery
drivers; update grocery list; assist cooks, if needed; bag and hand out Joy meals to drivers.
• Must be able to build strong, professional relationships with staff, volunteers, and
congregants.
• Strong organizational skills along with the ability to take initiative and work independently
are essential.
• Must have strong written and verbal communication skills including the ability to converse
with people in person and on the telephone.
• Assist with other events as needed from time to time.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
• Strong computer skills including Microsoft Suite and Publisher.
• Experience in hospitality, engagement, and management a plus.
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to navigate campus multiple times per day.
• Be able to sit for extended periods of time and work on a computer.
• Willing to work flexible, non-traditional hours.
• Occasional event set-up and preparation with light lifting expected
