Rhonda Mann
In July 2000, Mann joined VOICES for Alabama’s Children and began learning all aspects of the organization and the issues facing Alabama’s children. Through her work with the Alabama Kids Count project she developed both in‐depth as well as broad understanding of the various aspects of child well‐being and of the ways to improve it. She has worked on various communications campaigns from helping individuals understand the critical nature of the first five years of life in child development to child passenger safety, teen driver safety, child poverty, child hunger, child care and citizen understanding of tax and budget issues.
Her skills include writing, graphic design, and web content development to convey important issues affecting children in Alabama. While serving as the Policy & Research Director her duties included production of the Alabama Kids Count Data Book, the Kids Count County Data Profiles and other supplemental reports and related activities each year. Additionally, Mann provides training on understanding the data, using data effectively to tell your story, and advocacy training to better understand Alabama’s legislative process as well become a more effective advocate. As the Alabama Kids Count Director, Mann was the designated spokesperson for the annual research report and provided oversight for the project.
Mann retired in November 2020 but continued assisting the organization as a contract employee to oversee the KIDS COUNT Project. In July 2022, the board asked her to come out of retirement to fill in as interim executive director while they searched for new leadership. In October 2022, the board named Mann as the executive director.
She attended the University of South Alabama where she majored in Business Administration. She is married to Joe Mann of Eufaula, AL and has two married sons and six granddaughters. She resides in Prattville, AL and is an active member of Prattville First Methodist in Prattville, AL.
